Exclusive Access: Education Week’s ‘Quality Counts’ 2016

EWA journalist members received an early opportunity to review Education Week’s newest Quality Counts report, which includes a special focus on school accountability.

As part of its annual Quality Counts report, Education Week grades states on a wide range of indicators, including the Chance-for-Success Index, K-12 Achievement Index, and school finance.

This year’s report examines “how new state and federal strategies are transforming the assessment of school performance, and reshaping the consequences for poor results. As the newly enacted Every Student Succeeds Act raises fresh questions about the future direction of accountability, Education Week journalists explore options for holding schools to high standards while simultaneously improving student achievement.”

The EWA webinar on Wednesday, January 6, featured the Education Week Research Center’s experts to explain their findings, and was moderated by EWA’s public editor, Emily Richmond.
