William S. Moore is the director for K-12 partnerships for the Washington State Board for Community & Technical Colleges (SBCTC). Since 1990 he has led the higher education assessment initiative in the state, most recently focusing much of his work on college readiness in mathematics and high school/college articulation issues. Over his years of teaching and working in higher education, his main areas of interest have been the influence of student beliefs and personal epistemologies on their approaches to learning and the challenges of promoting and assessing deep and lasting learning in college. Moore graduated with honors from the University of Texas at Austin, earned a master’s degree in counseling psychology from UT, and completed an interdisciplinary doctorate from the University of Maryland with a concentration in college student development.
