Tonya R. Moon teaches courses in research design and is a principal investigator for the National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented and a principal investigator for a research grant focused in the area of STEM and elementary teachers and students. She is past chair of the National Association for Gifted Children Research & Evaluation Network and a past president of the Virginia Educational Research Association. She is active in the American Educational Research Association, the National Council on Measurement in Education, and NAGC. In 2003 she was awarded the NAGC Early Scholar Award.
