Susan Traiman

Susan Traiman is president of edSIGHT, an education consulting company she launched in July 2011. Most recently, she was director of public policy at Business Roundtable (BRT), working with chief executive officers of leading corporations to improve education performance, innovation and workforce competitiveness in the United States. Traiman directed Education Policies Studies at the National Governors Association (NGA), coordinating assistance to governors and participating in the 1989 National Education Summit and the development of National Education Goals. She was a senior associate with the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Educational Research and Improvement and served on the staff of the National Commission on Excellence in Education, contributing to its landmark 1983 report, A Nation at Risk. Traiman came to Washington, D.C. from New Jersey, where she was a teacher and a consultant at a regional service center of the State Department of Education. She received a bachelor’s degree in American civilization and a master’s in education from the University of Pennsylvania.
