Sunny Deye is a program principal for the National Conference of State Legislatures. She oversees NCSL’s education technology, digital learning and competency-based learning work, exploring how the opportunities and realities of the digital age expand access to continuous learning for youth and adults. Deye has been working with state legislators and legislative staff for 15 years, providing research and technical assistance; conducting meetings linking research and policy; and tracking and publishing reports on education legislation and policy, including staffing and writing the 2011 recommendations of the NCSL Task Force on Dropout Prevention and Recovery. Prior to joining NCSL in 2005, Deye was a Senior Legislative Assistant in the Colorado General Assembly’s Office of Legislative Legal Services. Deye holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Oregon and a master’s in politics and public policy from the University of Colorado Denver.
