Stephen Abbott is director of public engagement for the Great Schools Partnership and New England Secondary School Consortium, and editor of the Glossary of Education Reform. He is a veteran writer, editor and communications professional, and he frequently advises, consultants and presents on communications, messaging and public-engagement strategies for educational organizations, districts and schools. As the project director for a regional school-community engagement initiative, much of Abbott’s work is also focused on dismantling structural inequities in public education and elevating the voices of students, families and community members in school governance and decision-making. Abbott graduated from Sarah Lawrence College with a bachelor’s degree in literature and literary theory and formerly worked for Columbia University Press in New York.
