Spiros Protopsaltis is associate professor and director of the Center for Education Policy and Evaluation at George Mason University’s College of Education and Human Development and Schar School of Policy and Government. Prior to joining George Mason University, he served as deputy assistant secretary for higher education and student financial aid for the Department of Education. Before joining the Obama Administration, he served as senior policy advisor to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, and to Congressman Jared Polis of Colorado. Protopsaltis holds a PhD from the University of Colorado Denver, an MS from the New School University, and a BA summa cum laude from Northeastern University.
