Sarah Yatsko is a senior research analyst at the Center on Reinventing Public Education, where she heads a project to study, monitor and support district-charter collaboration work in 23 cities. She has led multiple assessments of district-wide reform efforts in large urban districts, including Baltimore, Cleveland and Hartford, Connecticut. She is an expert on school turnarounds and was lead author of a nationally recognized study of the implementation of School Improvement Grants. Yatsko has authored several reports and has presented to districts and communities and at national education conferences. Prior to joining CRPE, she spent a decade as a sentencing alternative specialist in the juvenile court system. She has also conducted research on the efficacy of indigent legal representation for juveniles and on barriers to employment for recipients of public assistance. Yatsko has a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Loyola University and a master’s in public administration from the University of Washington.
