Richard Alfred taught courses in organizational strategy, leadership, financial management and effectiveness in colleges and universities with a particular focus on community colleges. Previously, he worked as a senior administrator in community college districts in New York City, Kansas City, Mo. and Cleveland and as a consultant to more than 400 colleges in North America. Alfred is the founding director of the Center for Community College Development and the author of more than 150 publications on the topics of organizational strategy, governance, institutional effectiveness, planning and assessment, and change management in colleges and universities. He received his doctorate from Pennsylvania State University in higher education and sociology.
