Michael McShane is a research fellow in education policy studies at the American Enterprise Institute.  He is the author of “Education and Opportunity,” editor of the forthcoming volume “New and Better Schools” and co-editor of “Teacher Quality 2.0” and “Common Core Meets Education Reform.” His commentary has been published widely in outlets such as USA Today, The Washington Post, and The Huffington Post. He is a former high school teacher and earned his doctorate in education policy at the University of Arkansas.
