Michael DeArmond is a senior research analyst at the Center on Reinventing Public Education (CRPE). His research at CRPE focuses on school district reform and governance, policy implementation, teacher policy and human resource management.  DeArmond has published work in academic journals and policy reports on a range of topics, including teacher compensation and hiring, principal hiring, charter schools and the public oversight of school choice. He holds a doctorate in education and a master’s in social policy and education from the University of Washington and a bachelor’s degree in history from Brown University. Prior to working as a researcher, DeArmond was a middle school history teacher.
