Ballotpedia is the online encyclopedia of American politics and elections and includes the School Board Elections (SBE) Project. Led by Local Desk Project Director Margaret Koenig, Ballotpedia provides complete and timely information on school districts, board elections and candidates through unbiased research and reporting and creates comprehensive articles on the 1,000 largest public school districts in the United States, as measured by enrollment. The project is frequently the first or only source for candidate filings, campaign finance and election results in many of these districts. Ballotpedia also covers recall elections in all school districts. Other original research areas include election trends (including incumbency advantage) and a nationwide survey of board candidates. Ballotpedia’s Policy Desk provides further research and context on education policy in every state. Ballotpedia’s goal is to inform people about politics by providing accurate and objective information about politics at all levels of government.
