Lucy Steiner is a senior consulting manager and the senior vice president of professional learning and leadership with Public Impact. An expert on teacher leadership, she spearheads implementation of Opportunity Culture models in schools and districts nationwide, which extend the reach of excellent teachers to more students, for higher pay within existing budgets. She focuses on such issues as teacher and leader policy, school restructuring, teacher professional development, and charter school policy. For example, she co-authored “ESSA: New Law, New Opportunity” and “The Whole Package: 12 Factors of High-Impact Teacher-Leader Roles.” Her work often provides a bridge between district leadership, school leadership, and instruction. A former high school English teacher, Steiner holds a master’s degree in education and social policy from Northwestern University, and a bachelor’s with highest honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which she attended as a Morehead scholar.
