Louisa Tarullo is an associate director of human services research at Mathematica Policy Research with more than 20 years of experience in early childhood research focusing on children at risk. Tarullo leads Mathematica’s research area on early care and education policy. An expert in programs and policies to support optimal development and learning in children from birth through the early school years, Tarullo has played a key role in several notable projects including the multi-cohort Head Start Family and Child Experiences Survey (FACES), several studies of Early Head Start, a project to develop an observational measure of caregiver interactions with infants and toddlers, and a study of features and dosage of preschool that relate to children’s outcomes. An active member of the Society for Research in Child Development, she was selected as a member of its Policy and Communications Committee, with oversight for its policy fellowship program. Tarullo is widely published in peer-reviewed journals and holds a doctorate in human development and psychology from Harvard University.
