Linda Adler-Kassner, professor of writing studies and director of the writing program at University of California, Santa Barbara, has directed writing programs and taught courses in writing, pedagogy and assessment to undergraduate and graduate students for over 20 years. She has expertise in public policy and writing instruction, writing assessment and pedagogy, writing and advocacy, and histories of literacy. She is author, co-author or co-editor of nine books, more than 40 articles and book chapters, and a number of policy documents. She also works regularly with writing faculty on communicating with audiences outside of the university. Adler-Kassner is a past president of the Council of Writing Program Administrators, an organization representing faculty with an interest in writing program direction and pedagogy. She is the current assistant chair of the Conference on College Composition and Communication, composition’s largest disciplinary organization. Adler-Kassner holds a doctorate from the University of Minnesota.
