Lauren Roth oversees facilities-related communications for Orange County Public Schools in Florida, the eighth-largest school district in the nation. OCPS has one of the largest school construction programs in the country. Since 2003, the district has opened 53 new schools to accommodate growth and relieve overcrowding. An additional 124 schools have been replaced or renovated thanks to a sales tax approved by voters. Roth handles community and public relations surrounding these school projects, as well as maintenance, custodial, grounds and pest control. Before joining OCPS, Roth was an award-winning journalist who covered education for the Orlando Sentinel, Virginian-Pilot and Scranton Times-Tribune. A New Hampshire native, Roth has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in journalism from Northwestern University.
