Keisha Smith is The Education Trust’s state director for Louisiana. Her advocacy work has focused on ensuring all children have access to a high quality education through high academic standards, highly effective educators, and robust accountability. During her tenure at the Urban League of Greater New Orleans, Smith successfully advocated for school choice, was a key partner in the implementation of an equitable and transparent centralized school enrollment system, and brokered positive parent-school relationships. Before that, she served as the public engagement director at the Center for Development and Learning. Smith has also held the positions of adjunct professor at Louisiana State University, Drexel University, and Xavier University. She holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Xavier University of Louisiana, a master’s degree in adult education, and a doctorate degree in educational leadership and research from Louisiana State University.
