Kathryn LeRoy, superintendent of schools in Polk County, Fla., has more than 28 years of education experience. She has extensive expertise in current educational reform practices, standards-based curriculum alignment and development, professional development, support of low performing students and schools, accountability, personnel and fiscal management. She is the recipient of the 2014-2015 Outstanding Superintendent Communicator Award, a distinction bestowed on behalf of the Sunshine State School Public Relations Association. Prior to arriving in Polk County, LeRoy served as chief academic officer and chief officer of mathematics and science for Duval County Schools, and executive director of science and district supervisor of science for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. LeRoy holds a master’s degree in animal nutrition and physiology from the University of Tennessee and a bachelor’s in animal science from the University of Maryland. She also holds a certification in educational leadership from Florida Atlantic University.
