Julia H. Kaufman is a policy researcher at the RAND Corporation. Her research examines the implementation of curricula and standards in schools, as well as programs and policies that support teaching and learning. Her current research includes a study to understand teachers’ standards-aligned instructional resources and classroom practices, as well as the information teachers have about their state standards; a federally-funded evaluation of TNTP’s work to support improved hiring and retention of teachers in urban school districts; and a study on the costs of school district pipelines for preparing and supporting principals. She has published research in multiple education and policy journals, including the American Educational Research Journal, Elementary School Journal, Instructional Science and Educational Policy. She holds a doctorate in international education from New York University and a master’s degree in teaching from the University of Pittsburgh.
