Howard Miller is a professor and chair of the Department of Secondary Education in the School of Education at Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. A 40-year veteran educator with a doctorate in literacy education from the University of Missouri, Miller has presented numerous professional workshops at national education conferences and has published dozens of articles and book reviews in professional journals such as The Reading Teacher, English Journal, Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy, Voices from the Middle, Middle School Journal, Educause, and Choice: Current Reviews for Academic Libraries. He is co-editor of a special issue of the Global Education Review on the topic of the use of Open Education Resources in college courses. His areas of interest include middle school curriculum and organization, the politicization of public education, combating bullying and homophobia, and, more broadly, issues of social justice as these apply to the field of education.
