Harold Brown explores and develops opportunities for KnowledgeWorks to invest and partner in initiatives designed to dramatically improve educational outcomes for disadvantaged youth. He is developing and overseeing a statewide effort to reduce the so-called “school-to-prison pipeline” and support quality educational options for youth who reentering their communities following incarceration. Prior to this role, Brown served as president of EDWorks, a subsidiary of KnowledgeWorks that offers innovative school designs focused on empowering first-generation college-goers and traditionally underserved students to graduate from high school better prepared for college and career. Previously, Brown managed the Foundation’s $100 million investment in the Ohio High School Transformation Initiative, and the Foundation’s Early College High School initiative. He has managed the Foundation’s investments in Project GRAD, College Access, the Ohio 8 Coalition and a wide range of other education reform initiatives. A native of Oxford, Ohio, Brown earned his bachelor’s degree in government, with honors, from Harvard University.
