Gloria Ladson-Billings is the Kellner Family Chair in Urban Education in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is also a faculty affiliate in the departments of educational policy studies, educational leadership and policy analysis, and Afro American studies. She was president of the American Educational Research Association from 2005 to 2006. A member of the National Academy of Education, Ladson-Billings researches and writes on culturally relevant pedagogy, critical race theory applications to education, and issues of academic disparity between African American students and their peers.
