Denise Watts serves as a Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools community superintendent and leads the work of Project LIFT (Leadership and Investment for Transformation). Project LIFT, a $55 million philanthropic initiative composed of leaders from Charlotte, N.C.’s largest community and family foundations, aims to accelerate student achievement in nine schools in the West Charlotte Corridor. Watts provides oversight for the initiative, including supervising the nine school leaders that serve as principals in these schools. Watts has served as a teacher, assistant principal and principal and has over 14 years of experience in leadership in education.
