David A. Ritchey has been executive director of the Association of Teacher Educators since 2003. He has more than 20 years of experience with trade and professional associations, most recently with the Association of School Business Officials International as director of communications and marketing, director of government and public affairs, and interim executive director. Previously, he was a staff executive with the Architectural Woodwork Institute and worked with the Association of the Wall and Ceiling Industries International and the Institute of Industrial Launderers. Ritchey holds two master’s degrees in sociology and public administration and a doctorate in public administration. He has written three books and authored numerous articles for different magazines, including three for the flagship publication of the American Society of Association Executives, Associations Now. His presentation on school construction decisions was posted on the U.S. Department of Energy’s EnergySmart Schools website and replicated in the U.S. and Canada. He has been a certified association executive for more than 10 years.
