David Griffith is the senior director of public policy, leading ASCD’s efforts to influence education decision-making at the local, state and federal levels and the development and implementation of the association’s legislative agenda. Prior to joining ASCD, Griffith was the director of governmental and public affairs for the National Association of State Boards of Education, where he oversaw all of its advocacy and political activities as well as media relations. Previously, Griffith served as an aide to U.S. Rep. Joe Kolter, D-Penn., and Rep. Robert Torricelli, D-N.J. In addition, he has worked on numerous political campaigns, was the legislative and grassroots coordinator for the American Arts Alliance representing the nation’s leading non-profit arts institutions, and traveled the country doing advance work for the 1996 Olympic Torch Relay. He received his bachelor’s degree from Villanova University and his mater’s from the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education.
