Daniel Velasco is the regional director at Johns Hopkins University’s Talent Development Secondary, overseeing school turnaround programming at a dozen schools across Boston, New York City, and Philadelphia. Most recently he was TDS’ Boston executive director, where he coordinated programming at three secondary schools. He is also a teaching facilitator at Harvard University. He has more experience in education and consulting, ranging from classroom teacher in San Jose, Calif., to policy consulting at the Massachusetts Executive Office of Education. Velasco also spent a year consulting with the Achievement Network and two years as operations director for Teach For America’s Los Angeles Institute. Originally from Peru, Velasco attended the ICN business school in France. He earned a master’s degree in education policy and management at Harvard University and a master’s in international development and social change at Clark University. He also received an executive certificate in strategic planning from Harvard Business School. Currently, he is a third year doctoral student in Johns Hopkins’ online program in leadership and entrepreneurship.
