Dan Thatcher is a program principal at the Denver-based National Conference of State Legislatures, where he has tracked education finance policy since 2006 and, beginning in 2011, Common Core State Standards. Thatcher has worked with state legislators in a variety of capacities for over 15 years, including providing legislative testimony in over 10 states and serving as a Hinckley intern in the Utah State Legislature in 2004. Thatcher’s tracking of Common Core State Standards legislation and school finance trends has been cited by numerous national and regional media outlets, including the Associated Press, Education Week, Fox News, NPR, The New York Times, Politico and The Washington Post. Thatcher received his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Utah and his law degree from the Sturm College of Law, University of Denver.
