Christopher J. Lemons is assistant professor of special education at Vanderbilt University. He is also the co-director of the National Center on Leadership in Intensive Intervention and serves as a senior advisor to the National Center on Intensive Intervention. His research focuses on methods to intensify academic interventions for children with intellectual and learning disabilities and related assessment issues. In the past five years, much of this work has focused on students with Down syndrome. He was the principal investigator of an Institute of Education Sciences-funded project aimed at developing an effective reading intervention for children with Down syndrome. He is an associate editor for the American Journal on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. His research has been published in Exceptional Children, Reading Research Quarterly and other peer-reviewed journals.
