Bryan Goodwin was appointed McREL International’s president and CEO in 2014. He joined McREL in 1998 and has served as a member of its leadership team since 2003. Goodwin thrives on translating education research into practical application, scanning the world for new insights and best practices on teaching and leading, and helping educators everywhere adapt them to address their own challenges. He is a frequent conference presenter and keynoter, and he is the author or co-author of several McREL books, including “Simply Better: Doing What Matters Most to Change the Odds for Student Success” (2011), “The 12 Touchstones of Good Teaching” (2013), and “Balanced Leadership for Powerful Learning: Tools for Achieving Success in Your School” (2015). He also writes a monthly “Research Says” column for ASCD’s Educational Leadership magazine. Prior to joining McREL, Goodwin was a college instructor, a high school teacher in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands, and an award‐winning business journalist. Goodwin has a bachelor’s degree in professional writing and environmental studies from Baylor University and a master’s in rhetoric and communication studies from the University of Virginia.
