Kerin Hilker-Balkissoon
Executive Director of College and Career Pathways, Northern Virginia Community College

Kerin Hilker-Balkissoon is the executive director of College and Career Pathways at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA).  Hilker-Balkissoon has a diverse professional background, including prior experience in K-12, nonprofit, and postsecondary settings. She joined the NOVA faculty in 2001 and in 2005 was named the founding director of NOVA’s Pathway to the Baccalaureate Program.  Under her direction, Pathway has evolved to include multiple initiatives to support underserved populations, growing to leverage more than 100 institutional and community partners who jointly provide high-touch, multi-generational college readiness, access, community-based co-enrollment, and student success services to over 13,000 students, PK-Adult, with strong outcomes in credit and workforce credential completion.  She remains highly engaged in institutional and national efforts to develop and enhance multi-generational college and career pathways through collective impact programming.  Hilker-Balkissoon holds a bachelor’s degree  in psychology from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a master’s in counseling from The Johns Hopkins University.
