Join Us at the Secure Schools Roundtable on Capitol Hill, Thursday, June 28
You’re invited to the Secure Schools Roundtable, an event on Capitol Hill hosted by the Secure Schools Alliance, the Security Industry Association and the Congressional School Safety Caucus (CSSC) on Thursday, June 28.
The full agenda includes feature presentations by the Police Foundation on state school security standards; the National Fire Protection Association on new standards for active shooter responses and preparedness; and the Partner Alliance for Safer Schools on creating best practice school security plans based on local preferences and cost. An interactive panel discussion will feature representatives of several federal agencies, including the Departments of Justice, Homeland Security and Education on federal responses to the crisis surrounding the safety and security of K-12 public schools in the U.S.
Dr. Mick Zais, deputy secretary of Education and director of the President’s Commission on School Safety, will keynote the event. Attendees will also hear special remarks from Rep. Susan Brooks (R-IN), co-chair of the CSSC; Rep. Rick Larsen (D-WA), co-chair of the CSSC; and Rep. John Rutherford (R-FL), sponsor of the STOP School Violence Act.
The event is free and lunch will be provided, but RSVPs are required as seating is limited.
