Tulsa, Okla. – Husband and wife team, Edward and Cheryl Shane, are co-creators and owners of the website,, a classified ad website for educators.  Hoot of Loot is a site designed for teachers to buy and sell both used and new, discounted classroom supplies and education related materials.  Cheryl, a fifth grade teacher, has been teaching for nearly 17 years in Oklahoma schools. She has taught grades Pre-K through eighth grade in a variety of classroom settings.  Edward specializes in the business of online marketing and website development through his Tulsa based business, Shane Media Productions.   It was through Cheryl’s personal experience of needing to buy her own classroom materials on a limited teacher’s salary that prompted her, along with Edward’s website expertise to create,  One day, while sorting through her teaching supplies and needing to downsize for a new position, a thought came to her, “I wondered if there was a website available for teachers to sell their usable teaching materials and possibly recoup some of their investment.”  Working together, Edward and Cheryl created and it was launched in 2010 with the intention of helping teachers get the classroom supplies they need. “Every year I spent so much of my own money on materials, consumables for my students, and just about everything that goes into a smooth running classroom,” recalls Cheryl.  She notes that some studies have shown that $500 is the average amount teachers spend per year on their students and supplies.  “Oklahoma is ranked 49th in state spending per pupil and is regularly ranked at #1 in state education budget cuts.  The state relies on its dedicated teachers to fill funding gaps by buying their own classroom supplies on some of the lowest salaries in the nation,” says Cheryl.  “With this lack of funding, teachers have to use their own money to meet classroom needs. We love our students and want to make the most of our classroom so we make an investment in education materials.  Our goal is that will serve as a beneficial resource for teachers to recover some of their money spent on supplies as well as find materials they need at a discounted price.”  Edward adds, “Another goal of Hoot of Loot would be for us to donate a percentage of any profit the site makes in the future to education related causes.”  Easy-to-use and self-driven, offers educators the opportunity to register and create an account for free. The site has more than 30 product categories to post ads. Users simply choose the category in which to post the ad, add a price, photo, description and submit it for free. The buyer contacts the seller directly via email and works out shipping and payment.  Hoot of Loot continues to steadily gain new visitors to the site and Likes on social media.  “We’re excited about the future as we continue to grow and offer a service that supports teachers,” says Cheryl.

Cheryl and Edward live in Tulsa with their two children Adina (10) and Harrison (7).  As a family they enjoy traveling, hiking, exploring cultures through food, and watching the performing arts.
