Visiting Artists Inspire Bridgeport Students
As part of a signature program of the President’s Committee on Arts and the Humanities, Blaine and Reese will visit their adopted schools several times this year, working with students to infuse arts into the curriculum. On Friday, baseball player-turned-musician Bernie Williams will visit his adopted school, Tisdale, and next Monday, architect Thom Mayne will be at Hall School. The four Bridgeport schools are among 49 nationwide competitively selected in round two of a program that provides teacher workshops, free supplies, musical theater kits and musical instruments. In 2011, Roosevelt School in the city was among the first eight chosen for the White House initiative, and was paired with artist Chuck Close.
