In Some Central Florida Counties, Parents Demand Recess for Kids
Determined Lake County parents pushing for their kids to have recess every day are not backing down from the School Board without a fight.
And other Central Florida residents are joining the movement, too.
While Lake parents have taken to the streets — picketing outside local elementary schools with homemade signs — in hopes of persuading the district to mandate 30 minutes of recess for all elementary students, two Orlando moms have turned their efforts to the Internet.
An online petition, calling for the Orange schools to require recess periods of at least 20 minutes every day, has drawn 921 signatures so far.
