NYS Unveils Sexual Assault Policy At SUNY Schools

New York’s state university system on Tuesday adopted a sexual-assault policy that will apply to all 64 of its campuses as colleges across the country face questions about their response procedures.

The new State University of New York policy includes an 11-sentence definition of “affirmative consent,” which requires “clear, unambiguous, knowing, informed, and voluntary agreement” among participants in sexual activity. It also provides amnesty to victims who used drugs or consumed alcohol underage during sexual-violence incidents.
