Lansing Schools Take Action Over Elevated Lead Levels

Water samples from five Lansing School District buildings showed elevated levels of lead in recent testing prompted by the Flint water crisis, district officials said Tuesday.

The district flushed water lines, changed some plumbing fixtures and removed others after a contractor tested samples from all of the district’s more than 30 buildings, officials said. The district’s water is “lead safe” and poses no danger to students, officials said Tuesday afternoon in a press release.
