Cuomo Pushes $2 Billion School-Bond Issue

Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday that he plans to ask for voter approval of a $2 billion bond to fund a technology upgrade in the state’s public schools. Cuomo’s push for the referendum is among his top education priorities for 2014 and was among a series of proposals in his State of the State address, including plans to establish universal pre-Kindergarten statewide, expand an incentive program for high-performing teachers, offer college scholarships for students excelling in math and science, and strengthen anti-discrimination laws that protect students.
