The battle over unions continues on Labor Day

As organized labor celebrates the achievements of American workers on this national holiday, they’re also fighting continued attacks on their memberships.

The feud between the Mackinac Center and Americans for Prosperity versus the Michigan Education Association turned into a heated battle over the value of organized labor.

The Mackinac Center, a Midland-based conservative think tank, and Americans for Prosperity, funded by the Dallas-based Koch brothers, say the fight is strictly about informing MEA members that due to the right-to-work law that passed in 2012, they had only one month — August — to quit their membership.
