Staff Reporter
One Day, the alumni magazine of Teach For America

One Day, the alumni magazine of Teach For America, reports on major issues in education with depth and authority. We are seeking a resourceful, curious, energetic staff reporter to join the magazine’s growing team. A good candidate will have some experience as a journalist (preferably covering education or other complex issues); a creative, collaborative spirit; interest and experience in incorporating evolving forms of media in storytelling and interaction with readers; an insatiable curiosity about how to deliver journalism to readers in the places and ways they want it; and an ability to write in multiple styles, tones and formats (everything from long-form articles to stories told graphically to a 100-word goofy love story).

You will work with One Day’s editors and web producer to report and tell compelling stories about education in America for a highly-informed audience of alumni, teachers and members of the communities where we work. Reporting to the Associate Editor, you will team up with experienced staff members to help evolve One Day from its print-only legacy to a compelling digital and print publication. You will thrive on working independently and as part of a team, sometimes leading, sometimes learning. You believe in journalism as a tool for social justice and are comfortable reporting with the goal of advancing Teach For America’s mission to enlist and mobilize leaders to strengthen the movement for educational equity and excellence.
