Seeking Education Multimedia Reporter
The Oakland Press
The Oakland Press is looking for an exceptional multimedia reporter to join our team covering education.
Our ideal candidate has a diverse set of digital and print journalism skills, excellent news judgment, a dogged reporting style, a portfolio of interesting work and the interest and ability to cultivate a long list of sources and tipsters. Our newsroom moves fast, so reporters must adapt and adjust quickly, work well under pressure, value teamwork and have a demonstrated mastery of social media and other digital tools.
Can you confidently move from poring over district financials to updating audiences about a measles outbreak? Did you use social media to find sources for your last story? Do you have proven experience working independently and remotely while meeting multiple deadlines throughout each day? Know how to shoot photos and videos, and use metrics, such as Chartbeat and Google Analytics, to capitalize on audience interests? Have the energy, passion, imagination and flexibility to produce quality, innovative content for our digital and print publications?
If so, we should talk.
Send a resume, links to your social media accounts and links to 3-5 examples of your print and digital work to Don Wyatt, executive editor, email@example.com. We’re looking for candidates with experience but will consider recent college grads with the right skills and internships.
