School Library Journal ( is looking for freelance journalists to contribute news and feature articles on education as it relates to school and public libraries, with an emphasis on children’s and young adult literature, educational technology, news literacy, censorship, STEM and makerspaces, library programming, and more.  Additional topics we cover regularly include college readiness, advocacy, early learning, federal funding issues, ELL students, equity and diversity factors, the student protest movement, and more.

We are seeking reporters who know how to find relevant sources and report and shape solid feature and news pieces, as well as pitch relevant topics to our editorial team. Pay is commensurate with experience and type of assignment.
