The Cincinnati Enquirer and The Enquirer have an outstanding opportunity for a reporter to help our community understand and influence important issues related to College and Career Readiness/Higher Education.

We want you to evaluate the educational and commercial strategies of local higher education institutions as well as college and career readiness programs and related strategies of public/private school students in grades 6-12. You will examine reform efforts at all levels to determine what’s working and what isn’t. We want to surprise and educate our readers through depth and revelation.

We are looking for someone who “gets” this issue and writes with a relatable voice that speaks to parents of school-aged children and young adults.

This is an enterprise-focused job, but at the same time, you need to deliver on readers’ expectations of some fresh content several times a week.

You need to be comfortable working with data and demonstrate proficiency with digital story forms, including the ability to create video and use social media to monitor potential sources of news, interact with readers and sources and build the’s digital audience.

We are looking for someone capable of being self-directed and working like an entrepreneur. You will work with analysts and strategists in the newsroom to identify content that resonates most, and collaborate with coaches and other reporters/photographers to deliver the right experience for each product.

You will be active at marketing your work to stakeholders and those who might be interested but aren’t yet users of our products.

The seven counties of Southwest Ohio and Northern Kentucky call several ranking universities home. The University of Cincinnati is one of the area’s largest employers serving more than 40,000 students; Xavier University, a private Jesuit Catholic college, is one of the oldest Catholic universities in the country; Northern Kentucky University boasts 15,000 students; Miami University in Oxford serves nearly 18,000. A host of smaller campuses in the area allows the reporter to examine the educational and research impacts of universities of all sizes.
