Education reporter
The Courier-Journal

The Courier-Journal, part of the USA TODAY Network, is looking for a reporter who cuts through jargon to report stories primarily from the perspective of students, parents, teachers and taxpayers; tracks and explains trends in curriculum; uses public data on the county, state and national levels to undergird reporting; and delivers strong enterprise work. The ideal candidate has the proven ability to tailor storytelling to social, video and digital platforms.

A major part of the beat is covering Jefferson County Public Schools, the largest school system in the state with more than 100,000 students and one of the most diverse in the nation.

The Courier-Journal is a 10-time Pulitzer Prize-winning news organization in a metro area known for its internationally recognized chefs and restaurants; vibrant music scene, including the Forecastle music festival; world-class bourbon distilleries; and Churchill Downs, home of the Kentucky Derby. The quality of life is sky high and the cost of living is impressively low.
