Jobs for the Future works with our partners to design and drive the adoption of education and career pathways leading from college readiness to career advancement for those struggling to succeed in today’s economy.

We have three areas of work:

  • Preparing for College and Career (high school, bridging to college/career)
  • Earning Postsecondary Credentials (community college work, completion/success in higher ed/job training)
  • Advancing Careers and Economic Growth (workforce development, job training)

About the Position

This position is a contract or consultant freelance position. The writer/editor would undertake as-needed, short-term, and long-term writing projects geared to both general and specialist audiences. Responsibilities will include writing materials (e.g., reports, white papers, policy briefs, executive summaries, research papers, op-eds, feature articles); conducting background research, interviews, and literature reviews (or working from this content, which may be already provided); and providing general writing support and assistance to JFF’s program/content staff. The work will cover a variety of topics in education and workforce development.

Qualifications

Candidates with a Master’s degree in public policy, journalism, or English are preferred. The position also requires a minimum of two years experience as a journalist and/or writer in a competitive, deadline-driven media environment. Candidates who can demonstrate experience in other fields, such as consulting, finance, economics, or a recent graduate degree in a field relevant to education or workforce policy, are also encouraged to apply.

Compensation

Commensurate with experience. We make our best efforts to pay editors current hourly rate.
