This position is responsible for interviewing individuals and writing feature stories used across external university publications and social media platforms to reach specific audiences that include alumni, retirees, prospective students and their families, donors, and friends.
This position is responsible for maintaining editorial standards for Illinois State University’s many communications, contributing to the editorial quality and consistency of University communications through professional editing and writing skills. This position updates and enforces the Illinois State University Editorial and Visual Identity Standards Manual.
As a key member of the editorial team, the editor/writer will help see that communication projects proceed to completion on deadline and are of such quality that they convey the University’s overall excellence.
Additionally this position maintains editorial consistency through extensive editing of projects that are completed within University Marketing and Communications.
1. Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, or
closely related field.
2. Two (2) years of experience writing for a newspaper, magazine, trade publication, or news organization or writing in a public relations or business communications environment.
Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm
