Penn GSE seeks a highly-motivated journalist or public relations expert to join its communications team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of strong storytelling. The candidate must be a team player and strategic thinker, with the ability to proactively identify communications opportunities and develop supporting programs. In addition to pitching media, the selected candidate will oversee the school website’s editorial calendar and write a majority of its stories, while coordinating social media with the digital manager. Selected candidate will also support the work of the Executive Director of Communications, especially around strategic initiatives.
A Bachelor’s Degree is required, and 5-7 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Superior writing skills, knowledge of AP style preferred. Ability to create and execute project-specific publicity plans. It is essential that the candidate possess superior writing skills and a knack for making complicated ideas and materials easily understood and compelling. Strong organizational skills. Strategic thinking. Ability to build and maintain relationships internally and externally. Knowledge of, and interest in, education or academia a plus. Sense of humor greatly appreciated.
