How will the National Seminar be held?

The 2020 National Seminar will be held on a virtual event platform that will allow attendees to have an engaging conference experience.

When does the National Seminar start and end?

National Seminar regular sessions will run approximately from 12:00 p.m. ET on July 21 through 5:00 p.m. on July 24.


How can I apply for a scholarship?

You must  be a qualified journalist to be eligible for a scholarship. See here for the Journalist Scholarship Steps.

I was recently laid off from my position due to the COVID-19 outbreak but was eligible to attend the seminar before it was postponed. Am I still able to attend the rescheduled seminar?

Yes, you will be able to attend. EWA understands that these are uncertain and unpredictable times and is committed to supporting our members during times of hardships. If you were furloughed or laid off due to current events, you should attend the National Seminar and are eligible for a scholarship.

I received and accepted a scholarship to attend the postponed May National Seminar. Will I be able to transfer my old scholarship status to the rescheduled virtual National Seminar?

No, you will need to submit a new scholarship application for the rescheduled 2020 National Seminar.

I can no longer attend the National Seminar. What do I do?

If you are no longer able to attend, let us know immediately. Scholarships are nontransferable or to be shared. If you had a scholarship, we may be able to grant it to another journalist. Refunds for registration fees are available until July 8, 2020, less a $50 processing fee.


I applied for and received a scholarship. Does this mean I’m registered?

Not yet! You still need to officially register. Follow the instructions provided in your scholarship award letter.

Is my registration transferable?

Registrations are non-transferable. Partial refunds are available until July 8, 2020.

If I choose not to attend the full conference, will per-day registration be available? 

Yes, per-day conference registration is $150 per day and will be available once the agenda is updated. 

I paid for the postponed May National Seminar and asked you to hold my registration for the rescheduled seminar. Will I be able to transfer my registration and payment to the rescheduled virtual National Seminar?

Yes, you may choose to transfer your paid registration to the rescheduled virtual National Seminar. The balance of your registration payment not used for the seminar can be refunded, or may be donated to EWA.

Can I get a list of National Seminar attendees?

EWA does not distribute membership or event attendance lists per our privacy policy. There will be opportunities for networking, and we encourage you to follow the National Seminar hashtag, #ewa20.
