About the Entry

Nationwide, one in 10 individuals between the ages of 18 and 25 will experience homelessness over the course of a year. In Richmond, Virginia, one program is trying to change that by pairing young people with families willing to provide short or long-term housing.

Comments from the Judges

“Nice explanatory work that tries to get listeners thinking about a perennial topic right under their noses. Includes compelling personal accounts in the second piece, especially.”

“Strong series on an important subject. … I especially appreciated the detailed and emotional interviews with the host families and students.”
