What Testing Could Be
I was recently asked to write an article about what testing could be, as in a few years or even a decade from now. My main thought is that what we have now, high stakes accountability and some levels of formative assessment, have not produced the type of real learning gains that most would like. There is a lot of talk and writing about “assessment systems,” but I think that in the future, we might be better off with “learning systems,” completely integrated instruction and continuous assessment.
I’d be interested in hearing any thoughts on this subject???
