School Librarians and Budget Cuts: Questions for Carl A. Harvey
As noted in a story from July, school librarians have been especially hard hit by school district budget cuts.
So here are some questions for Mr. Harvey. Feel free to add your own:
- What do students lose when school districts replace librarians with clerks?
- Do many people have misconceptions about what librarians do? How has the job changed in this era of the internet and rapid technological changes?
- Any comments about the lack of access to print in low-income neighborhoods? What is the likely impact of the scaling back of both school and community libraries?
